Jonathan Barcena began racing Legend cars on dirt when he was 15. In
2004 Jonathan won the Young Lions National Dirt Points Championship, Texas State Semi-Pro Dirt Championship, and finished fifth
in the National semi-pro dirt point standings.
In 2005 Jonathan was moved up into the Legend Pro dirt division
by INEX racing. After a great season Jonathan was the 2005 Texas State Dirt Pro Champion and finished ninth
in the National Point Standings for the pro division.
Jonathan started experimenting
with asphalt oval and road course racing in 2006. He only competed in two road course races in which he
finished tenth in the first one, and fourth in the second after starting tenth. For his
one and only asphalt oval race he took second in his heat and fifth in the main.
In 2006
after missing a race early in the season, Jonathan came back to finish a strong second in track points for El Paso Speedway
Park and became the Dirt Pro Division, Texas State Champion. This was his third year in a row winning Texas
State Champion.
In 2007 Jonathan attended the Skip Barber 3
day driving school. He also attended the 2 day advanced racing school and has competed in two race weekends.
In the legends back home he became the Texas State Champion in the pro division for the fourth time in a row.
For 2008 Jonathan Has Finished the Skip Barber Western Series
where he finished third in the sportsmen series and fifteenth in the overall standings after missing the first
race weekend.
The 2009 Season will be a great change for Jonathan
where he will be running NASCAR Late Models at Ace Speedway in Elon, North Carolina. This will truly test his skills
as he transitions into an asphalt Late Model.
